The Museum of Asian Art – St Michael & St. George Palace

The Museum of Asian Art, situated within the Palace of St. Michael and St. George, stands as the sole museum in Greece devoted to Asian art. Its impressive displays showcase stunning collections sourced from various Asian countries. Originally constructed between 1819 and 1864, and established as a museum in 1927, the building boasts a rich history, having served as the British Commission’s Headquarters, the Ionian Senate’s Headquarters, and even the Greek Royal Family’s summer abode. Most of the exhibits come from significant Greek citizens, the Municipality of Corfu, and the National Archaeological Museum.

Visitors to the Museum of Asian Art can expect to find a wide range of treasures, including Chinese artifacts from the Ming, Sung, Tcheou, Chang, Han, Wei, and Ch’ing dynasties, as well as Japanese weaponry and masks, and items from Pakistan, India, Nepal, Tibet, Cambodia, Korea, Thailand, and Siam. The Serbian museum of Corfu

The Serbian Museum of Corfu is dedicated to preserving the memory of the tragic fate of Serbian soldiers during World War I. Following the collapse of the Serbian Front due to the Austrian-Hungarian attack on October 6, 1915, approximately 150,000 soldiers and their government in exile sought refuge and shelter in Corfu.

The museum houses rare exhibits that offer a glimpse into the lives of these soldiers during their three-year stay on the island. Visitors can view a variety of items, including photographs, uniforms, arms and ammunition of the Serbian army, regimental flags, religious artifacts, surgical tools, and decorations of the Kingdom of Serbia. These exhibits provide a unique opportunity to learn about this little-known chapter in Serbian history.
